A problem of plenty is usually a problem every team wants to have heading into the tournament of the magnitude of the T20 world cup. Indian cricket certainly is blessed to have this kind of a problem. We recently saw the Indian team send their second or third string side on the Sri Lankan tour and even that team turned out to be really competitive in that series.
A slot where there are many options currently is the opening slot. Now there is a lot of talk about the opening slot with options available left right and center. There are a few permutations and combinations that are being looked at in order to accommodate a couple of players in the middle order. So, for those engaged in the cricket betting tips and wondering what combinations India would be looking at during the T20 world cup, here is a gist.
- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
We saw a glimpse of this pair opening during the England home series. Two best batsmen right at the top of the order certainly sends fear down the spine of their opponents early and makes a really positive statement. What it also does is allow space for a couple of players in the middle order who would not have been there had Virat been batting in the middle order. People like Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have been making all the right noises off late in the chances they have got and with Virat playing up the order, there could be a chance for him to grab his chance in the middle order.
- Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul
With the form that KL Rahul has shown in the test match game and the kind of ball striking ability he has shown in the IPL in the last couple of years, it is going to be a really tough call to leave him out in the T20 world cup. Having said that, keeping Rahul at the top, keeps guys like Suryakumar and Ishan Kishan out of the team as Virat will have to be accommodated in the middle order. But KL on his day can certainly add a lot of depth to the squad as he can take the bowling apart and ahs a very good record in the UAE.
- Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma
With Rohit being the constant in all the partnerships, it really boils down to who will partner him in the T20 world cup. If we go down the years and see the best partner he has had, we will come to a very evident conclusion. That being Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar has been in and out of the side off late but is definitely one player who has been up there with his performances in the IPL and the national game. His strike rate has also gone up by a considerable margin and he is definitely going to be in contention here.
- Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan
Virat Kohli as a captain has had a history of not being shy of springing up a surprise. Prithvi Shaw is a dasher who has done well in the IPL off late and it may make aa case for him being at the top as a pinch hitter who will go on and play without any pressure at all. That would mean however that Rohit needs to bat in the middle order and strengthen the middle order quite a lot. This is however unlikely but you never know in a T20 game.
