Giving up on your dreams and aspirations because of the challenges life throws your way is never a good plan. Marcos Mathews is a living example of someone who followed his dreams despite various obstacles and has risen above different odds to excel in his chosen career.
When Marcos was just a little child, he had to deal with the stress and emotional upheaval that resulted from his parents getting a divorce. His dad received custody of him and his brother, and although it was not an easy task for his father to raise two young boys on his own, he managed quite remarkably. Marcos was frustrated because of the family circumstances he found himself in, which was different from that of most kids he knew. Like many children who are raised in such family situations like his own, he began acting out. His dad, who noticed what was happening and saw how precisely and forcefully Marcos threw things when he was angry, encouraged him to channel this frustration into sports. Marcos took his father’s advice and ventured into athletics.
First, he dabbled in baseball and later basketball. However, he had a difficult time shooting the ball due to his short stature. Instead of giving up, though, he sought an alternative in the form of soccer. Sitting on the sidelines and watching his brother play soccer, he soon developed an interest in it. Before long, he was playing and excelling at it. However, even with his success in soccer, he still struggled academically and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Dedicating himself wholly to his soccer career, he made even more headway. Before long, he got a well-deserved spot training with one of the best teams in the country, Real South California Academy. This was a real blessing, and, in no time, he learned how to play with even more skill than before.
It is worth noting that Marcos was not naturally inclined towards playing soccer. He faced many challenges and rejection in his career. For
instance, there was a time a coach told him that he was not ready to play for a Madrid top team. While that is enough to make any player feel dejected, Marcos took it in stride, buckled his belt, and in three weeks, he earned three-week trials with Marcet in Barcelona, CD Leganes, and FC Malaga City. Hard work and determination were what helped him excel in the field, and even after gaining a lot of success, he continues to press forward without relaxing his guard.
In the same vein, young and aspiring athletes are encouraged to work hard and never give up as no dream is unrealizable, and they can achieve whatever they want.
